Felony charges filed in Thornton State Beach fence case; new questions about real estate investor
"I feel awful. It's horrible. It's absolutely like a nightmare to me... you're having somebody try to steal your property from you. The six-acre property at Thornton State Beach has been in Pat Fraguglia's family since 1931. She watched the fence go up last month without her family's permission, blocking trails leading to the beach and causing a public uproar."
"I know more than anybody knows about real estate, okay? So, I'm just telling you right now, everything that's done is done legally, everything that is done is done by the book. And if somebody wants to go litigate it, we'll go litigate in California Superior Court. I got no problem."
A controversial fence erected at Thornton State Beach in Daly City by real estate investor Luke Brugnara has resulted in felony charges including two counts of felony threats and one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The six-acre property has belonged to the Fraguglia family since 1931. The fence blocked public trails to the beach without family permission, sparking public outrage. Daly City removed the fence one week after its installation. The family alleges Brugnara exploited family tensions to gain control of the land. Questions exist regarding the legality of a property transfer he received, potentially without proper authorization.
