A former Costco store in Redding, California, is being redeveloped into River Bend Commons, which will include Raising Cane's, Starbucks, and an At Home retail shop. Construction has begun at the site, which has been vacant for nearly three years, and the new center is expected to open this fall. The Redding city council approved the conversion plans in late 2022 amid the opening of a new, larger Costco nearby. While initial plans included a Chili's restaurant and dental office, the dental office has since withdrawn.
The former 123,000-square-foot Costco store in Redding, now reduced to 91,574 square feet, will soon host River Bend Commons, featuring Raising Cane's and Starbucks.
Northstate Commercial Partners has begun construction on River Bend Commons, transforming the long-vacant Costco site into a dynamic shopping center with various eateries.
