49ers promote Al Guido to CEO - but Jed York still oversees Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch
""Al has been an exceptional leader for this organization for more than a decade," York said in a statement. "His vision, partnership, and steady leadership have positioned the 49ers for success today and well into the future. The evolution of his role reflects how essential he has been to this organization and our confidence about what's ahead.""
""This has always been a team effort," Guido said in a statement. "I am grateful for the trust Jed and the York family have shown in me, and proud of the staff I get to work alongside every day. The focus remains on winning - on the field and across the organization - and that standard will continue to guide our work.""
Al Guido is moving from president to CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, assuming a title previously held by Jed York. Jed York became principal owner last March and will remain heavily involved in team operations, with coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch still reporting to him. Guido has held leadership roles for more than a decade, previously replacing Paraag Marathe as president after serving as chief operating officer. Guido emphasized a continued focus on winning on the field and across the organization. The 49ers are expanding international branding and will host Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup at Levi's Stadium this year.
