Downtown Muni Service Restored After Planned PG&E Outage; Richmond to Lose Power Tonight
"As PG&E works to make repairs to the Mission substation that was damaged in December, causing a huge swath of the city to lose power, power was cut to the Civic Center area Sunday night into Monday. The planned outage affected around 3,600 PG&E customers, and was said to potentially last 12 hours. But after the power was cut at 12 am Monday, impacting all Muni underground service between Van Ness and Embarcadero stations, it was restored around 8 am."
"Muni service was fully restored around 10:30 am, after the SFMTA conducted "signal infrastructure checks." Residual delays are expected, the agency said. Hybrid train and bus service was available to commuters during Monday morning's commute. A second, shorter outage is set to begin at midnight tonight, and will affect a larger swath of the city, with around 14,000 PG&E customers impacted in the Richmond District, with some in a small section of the Sunset as well."
"Substation K, as its known, at Mission and Eighth streets, suffered a fire on December 20 that was partly responsible for a power outage that impacted around one-third of San Francisco."
