The collapse of the SF Parks Alliance resulted in the Port of San Francisco being responsible for $1.9 million in construction costs at Crane Cove Park. These costs were initially intended to be covered by funds held by the Alliance, which reportedly were misused for operating expenses. Despite the funding shortfall, the Port is committed to completing the park, albeit at the expense of other beautification projects along the southern waterfront. Still short, the Port may seek additional funding through grants or partnerships to cover projected deficits in future improvements.
The SF Parks Alliance collapse left the Port of San Francisco responsible for $1.9 million in Crane Cove Park construction costs intended to be covered by the Alliance.
The lost funds were meant for two playgrounds and a dog park, previously supported by a private donation from the Baker Street Foundation.
The Port will complete Crane Cove Park at the expense of Southern Waterfront beautification efforts, using funds from the Beautification Fund.
Fewer improvements will be made to waterfront areas, including cuts to plantings and the removal of old container cranes at Pier 96.
