In 2002, Rainbow Grocery became one of the first businesses in San Francisco to install solar panels, showcasing its commitment to sustainable practices.
Rainbow experienced significant growth, with a remarkable 68% increase in sales during the first year after relocating to a larger space in 1984.
In 1996, Rainbow Grocery moved to its current larger location on Folsom Street, supported by a million-dollar loan from the First National Bank.
In 2021, Rainbow was designated as an official Legacy Business by the city, recognizing its longstanding contribution to the community and cooperative movement.
