San Francisco's newest park, Sunset Dunes, attracts thousands on Day 1
Briefly

The Grand Opening of Sunset Dunes, San Francisco’s latest park, attracted thousands eager to enjoy its car-free environment. The park, a two-mile stretch of the Great Highway, offers a space for walking, running, and biking along the Pacific Ocean. However, despite the positive reception, the park's creation has sparked controversy in the community. Many local residents, opposed to Proposition K which allowed this transformation, are concerned about increased traffic and pollution from the vehicles displaced by the park. Key figures, including park officials and community members, express divergent views on the park's impact and its acceptance.
"I was skeptical, but I'm loving what's happening," said Tiffany Lyons. Lyons was one of thousands showing up Saturday to see what San Francisco's newest park was all about. "It's great to see people using it," said Eric Evje. "The election happened and now it's a park. We want this park to work for this community," Ginsburg said.
Gorski and his coalition of neighbors held a driving protest rally, supporting the recall of District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio, who they say failed to engage neighbors before pushing Prop K to a vote.
