S.F. punk rock haven Thee Parkside may close under new landlord, owner says
Briefly

The building at 1600 17th St. that houses Thee Parkside was signed to be sold to a developer for nearly $1.33 million after owner Maria Gloria Rando died and her husband declined to manage the property. Longtime tenant and operator Malia Spanyol, who has run the venue since 2007, had first rights to buy but could not raise the funds. A restaurant-industry buyer offered to buy and keep the venue but the realtor accepted a higher unknown bid. Spanyol waived her purchase rights after being given two days to match the offer. The building is in escrow, the bar's lease ended, and Spanyol fears demolition and eviction while awaiting the new landlord's plans.
no future
This community is fading fast in this city anyway, the people that Parkside has served over the years aren't around,
If this developer is kind and wants to work with me, that would be ideal,
If they're dicks, they could kick me out right away.
