San Francisco police arrested five suspects accused of operating a coordinated chain-snatching ring targeting bus riders. Investigators said five people worked together, using an SUV to scout victims at busy Muni stops. Police used drones to track the group, followed a Muni bus at Mission and 24th Street, boarded it, and eventually ripped a gold chain from a passenger’s neck. At Mission and Tingley streets, one male suspect ran off the bus with the chain and was taken into custody after a short foot chase. Two female suspects also ran off the bus, re-entered the suspect vehicle, and the remaining suspects were taken into custody. The suspects, ages 18 to 29, face robbery and conspiracy charges and are believed linked to similar crimes.
