The Night Tour limits attendance to a few hundred visitors per evening and includes special programs, docent-guided tours, and activities not offered during daytime visits. Ferry service from San Francisco provides onboard narration and access to the award-winning Cellhouse audio tour, visiting and permanent exhibits, and historic gardens. Seasonal schedules run March–November and November–March with selected evening departure times and additional Night Tours on specific dates. Visitors should dress warmly for often chilly, windy conditions. A social-media contest awards a pair of Night Tour tickets.
