San Francisco’s new speed-monitoring cameras, installed in March, have provided revealing data in their first month. A staggering 44% of speeding citations were issued on Fulton Street, highlighting a problematic trend in that area. On average, 1,000 speeding violations occur daily, with a majority of offenders exceeding speed limits by over 15 mph. Notably, Tuesdays and early weekday mornings show the highest rates of violations. Currently, offenders are receiving warnings, but monetary penalties will begin after all cameras are fully operational.
According to NBC Bay Area, about 44% of the warnings they have sent out so far are from a stretch of Fulton Street.
The data also contains the interesting tidbits that Tuesdays are the days on which the cameras snap the largest number of speeding vehicles.
The shocker here is that the speeding drivers are disproportionately on Fulton Street in the Avenues.
The cameras are catching an average of 1,000 speeding drivers every day, according to NBC Bay Area.
