Gavin Lux returned to Dodger Stadium for the first time since being traded to the Cincinnati Reds during the offseason. Lux became baseball's top prospect and won two World Series with the Dodgers. Lux missed the entire 2023 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee. In 2021 Lux crashed into the center field wall while attempting a running catch, sustaining a neck stinger and missing three games. Lux said he briefly blacked out, felt his face hit the wall, and was more embarrassed than injured while worrying about teammate Max Scherzer. Dodgers teammates and staff taped a body outline on the wall, and teammates tapped the spot before the next game's start.
I felt it smash my face. I kind of like black out for a second and look up, and AJ Pollock is over me like, 'Hey man, are you OK? Are you OK?' And I'm like, 'Scherz is going to kill me, man.' Because Scherzer was pitching. Scherz is going to kill me. What a train wreck. My neck hurt the next day. That was embarrassing.
He's a littler thicker and shorter than me. I think it's hilarious. [Chop] was like, 'Can I do that?' I'm like, 'I don't care. It's a good way to make a joke about it.' Now looking back at it, we can joke about it. It's funny.
