The Dodgers swept the Padres at home, then the Padres won back-to-back games in San Diego the following weekend, and the Dodgers still lead the division. Los Angeles swept the Cincinnati Reds while San Diego dropped two to the Seattle Mariners, creating a two-game Dodgers lead. Several insiders predict the Padres could win the division. Outfielder Michael Conforto said the team is locked in, calling the stretch a sprint and a race to finish in first place. Kiké Hernández returned after being sidelined since July, and Max Muncy and Michael Kopech are expected back from the injured list next week.
