Quick Hits: Davis, Kranick, Collins
"Davis faced a long road just to get to the majors as a 24th-round pick for the Twins in the 2015 draft, but his inclusion in the 2019 deadline trade that brought from Minnesota to San Francisco allowed Davis to get his first taste of the Show. The outfielder played in 17 games that season, and then made nine more appearances for the Giants over parts of the 2020-21 seasons before a Boston waiver claim resulted in 12 games with the Sox in 2022."
"Max Kranick will throw on Monday for the first time since undergoing flexor tendon surgery in July, according to the Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon. Kranick is aiming to be ready for action for the second half of the 2026 season, fitting the usual 12-month estimate for flexor tendon procedures. The Mets non-tendered Kranick in November, so any teams interested in the right-hander could look to sign him to a two-year free agent deal,"
Jaylin Davis announced his retirement from professional baseball at age 31 after four MLB seasons. Davis reached the majors after being a 24th-round pick by the Twins in 2015 and earning a call following a 2019 deadline trade to San Francisco. He appeared in 17 games in 2019, nine more across 2020-21 with the Giants, and 12 games with Boston in 2022 after a waiver claim. Davis finished with a .207/.274/.299 slash line over 95 major-league plate appearances and posted a .832 OPS at the Triple-A level. His final three pro seasons were spent in the Mets' farm system and in independent leagues. Separately, Max Kranick is beginning throwing progression after July flexor tendon surgery and targets a second-half 2026 return, with the Mets having non-tendered him and potential interest from teams on a short-term free-agent deal.
