The San Francisco Giants announced the reinstatement of second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald from the injured list prior to their game against the Oakland Athletics. In a corresponding move, infielder Brett Wisely was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Fitzgerald suffered a left rib fracture while diving for a ball but expressed optimism about his recovery, recalling the pain he experienced while playing through the injury. He showed promise during a brief stint in Sacramento, where he hit well and is now ready to contribute to the team as they aim for success this season.
Fitzgerald expressed relief about his return, stating, "Very lucky to have this in the past and hopefully just move on from this and get going again."
Discussing his recovery, Fitzgerald noted, "When I played through it, I could barely swing. I don't feel it right now. 100 percent different."
Fitzgerald's impressive performance before the injury was highlighted: "beginning with a two-hit game against the Yankees, he posted a .920 OPS in 15 games."
After a stint in Triple-A, he reflected, "It's nice to get him back in the lineup."
