A U.S. large-scale military attack captured Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, deploying more than 150 aircraft and striking locations including the port in La Guaira. Outfielder Luis Matos and catcher Jesus Rodriguez, both playing in the Venezuelan Winter League, are reported to be in a safe spot and not anxious to leave. The league postponed playoffs briefly but announced a resumption on Wednesday. Other Giants minor leaguers have participated in the Venezuelan Winter League this season. The Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico withdrew from the Caribbean Series scheduled for Caracas.
