The Athlete of the Week poll welcomes nominations and voting each week, specifically for performances from May 26-31. Voters can cast as many votes as they wish until the polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday. To ensure fairness, the use of bots or artificial voting methods is strictly prohibited, with penalties including candidate disqualification. Winners are announced every Friday in local sports sections. Nominations for future candidates can be submitted via email until 11 a.m. each Monday, with coaches' stats considered for nominations.

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com. We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
