Another dog death reported at SJ Animal Care Center following audit of inhumane conditions
Briefly

The tragic death of a dog named Lola at a San Jose animal shelter showcases deep-rooted problems in care and supervision. A prior audit had pointed to inhumane conditions and overcrowding, yet activists argue that little has changed. San Jose Animal Care employee Courtney Ferro discovered Lola in a distressing state, revealing significant gaps in training and protocol adherence among staff. Ferro expressed concern over management's inability to provide consistent guidelines, attributing Lola's unfortunate death to a lack of medical oversight, especially on nights when key trained staff are absent.
Ferro says Lola was not alert and breathing very slow and shallow. The animal was untangled and transported to a vet clinic, where she later died.
