San Jose Sharks sign 6-foot-4 Russian forward to one-year contract
Briefly

The San Jose Sharks have signed 24-year-old forward Egor Afanasyev to a one-year contract valued at $800,000. Acquired from the Nashville Predators last June, Afanasyev played in Russia last season, scoring 21 points in 53 games with CSKA Moscow. He has limited NHL experience with only 19 games played and one goal. In the AHL, he has recorded 113 points in 187 games. Sharks GM Mike Grier expressed enthusiasm about Afanasyev's potential contributions, highlighting his size and skill as valuable assets for the team.
Egor brings a combination of size and skill to our forward group. We are excited to bring him into our organization as he continues his growth in the North American game.
Afanasyev, 24, was acquired by the Sharks from the Predators last June for forward Ozzy Wiesblatt, San Jose's first-round pick in 2020.
