Observers in west London reported a blue-green streak or blob racing through the night sky at about 8.10pm, describing it as similar in size to the full-ish moon but far brighter and moving quickly. Sightings were reported from Northfields, West Ealing, Wimbledon and Hampstead Heath, with some viewers as far away as Brighton and Grantham. The phenomenon has not yet been confirmed by authorities. The Draconids meteor shower is expected between October 6 and 10, with the best viewing around 8pm on October 8 when the radiant in Draco sits in the north-west; moonlight may hinder visibility.
