Nasa returns moon rocket to pad and targets 1 April launch
"NASA has begun returning its towering SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft to its Florida launch pad ahead of a planned flyby of the moon, after completing necessary repairs."
"The immense orange and white Space Launch System rocket and the Orion vessel will be slowly wheeled out of the assembly building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and painstakingly moved four miles to Launch Pad 39B."
"If the tests are satisfactory, three US astronauts and one Canadian will head to the moon and fly around Earth's satellite, marking a significant step towards returning humans to the lunar surface."
"The Artemis 2 astronaut crew entered quarantine on Wednesday in Houston as they prepared for lift off, indicating the mission's imminent approach."
NASA has started moving the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft back to Launch Pad 39B in Florida for a moon flyby mission. The maneuver began at 8pm local time and can take up to 12 hours. The next launch window opens on April 1. The mission aims to send three US astronauts and one Canadian around the moon, lasting about 10 days. Previous delays were caused by technical issues, including helium flow and a liquid hydrogen leak. The Artemis 2 astronaut crew is currently in quarantine in Houston.
