"'3I/ATLAS is a comet.'"
"'What a waste of time! NASA is lying so bad. They are all so scripted. The gaslighting is off the charts,' one person posted on X."
"'You have lost all credibility with this blurry hogwash photo. Anyone over there who cares about Earth should dump the entire unedited image archive to Wikileaks,' another social media user wrote."
NASA unveiled new images of interstellar object 3I/ATLAS during a YouTube press conference; the images appeared largely blurry and showed only a distant dot. The agency reported no signs of alien life and identified the object as a comet, with associate administrator Amit Kshatriya stating the classification. Social media users accused the agency of withholding clearer images and alleged a cover-up, demanding release of unedited archives. HiRISE on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter viewed the object from about 19 million miles but produced a fuzzy black-and-white image lacking definition. The clearest image released depicted chemical elements released by 3I/ATLAS rather than a detailed view of the body.
