Rocket exhibit at National Space Centre pulls off unintentional NASA SLS impression
The Leicester-based museum includes rockets, a parafoil-equipped Gemini capsule, a planetarium, and interactive stations about the space age. One interactive bottle-rocket activity aimed to illustrate the Space Race by letting visitors pressurize a water bottle, hear a countdown, and watch liftoff. During operation, the Soviet Union bottle launched normally, but the American bottle spewed water from its base and only twitched when the countdown reached zero. The outcome resembled repeated leaks NASA’s Space Launch System suffered during launch preparations. The museum noted it currently had one water rocket out, the USA rocket.
