Jonason the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński gave their subjects - all recruited online and given a small monetary incentive - a battery of questions assessing their personality traits, experiences with Tinder and similar dating apps, as well as their sexual and romantic decision-making processes."

Nearly 500 German-speaking adults aged 16 to 70 were recruited online and given a small monetary incentive to complete questionnaires. Participants answered items measuring Dark Triad personality traits, Tinder and dating-app experiences, and sexual and romantic decision-making. Dark Triad traits include narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy, with psychopathy characterized by low empathy, low remorse, impulsivity, and sometimes aggression. Men who reported many sexual encounters with partners met on Tinder scored higher on psychopathy measures. Women who reported many partners tended to report lower standards regarding casual sex and romantic decision-making.
