Singapore will launch the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) in April to provide leadership and tap an expanding space economy. Ngiam Le Na will lead NSAS after serving as deputy CEO of the Defence Science and Technology Agency and at DSO National Laboratories. NSAS will focus on five areas: research and development, growing the space industry, global partnerships, expanding national capability in space, and legislation for safety and sustainability. Singapore hosts about 70 space companies employing roughly 2,000 professionals. The World Economic Forum projects the global space economy to exceed $1.8 trillion by 2035. Singapore maintains partnerships with the European Space Agency, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre, and the UAE Space Agency.
