Contra Costa Mineral & Gem Society celebrates 75 years with a Mineral and Gem Show at Centre Concord on Nov. 8–9. The event features minerals, gems, fossils, meteorites, crystals, beads, jewelry and slabs from expert vendors and collectors. Live lapidary demonstrations, educational displays and interactive exhibits will showcase geological processes and techniques. The popular Fluorescent Tent displays rocks glowing under UV light. Attendees can enter door-prize drawings, raffles and silent auctions, and shop for gifts and jewelry. Children can play games and paint rocks. The society's mascot Diablo Dan will appear at a photo booth. Admission is $10 general, $9 seniors, and free for ages 12 and under.
