Ventura sinkhole takes down a shed and two vehicles, sends people scrambling
Briefly

A large sinkhole developed near a construction site in Ventura, damaging a shed and two vehicles. The sinkhole, caused by ground collapse, resulted in ruptured pavement and cracked fencing while prompting nearby residents to evacuate. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and local officials are investigating the site. Tron Elliott, a nearby auto repair shop owner, witnessed the collapse and managed to move some vehicles just before the ground shifted significantly, indicating the unpredictability and danger of such occurrences near construction areas.
"We could see it was starting to sink and drop," Elliott said in an interview with The Times. "It just happened to be where my trucks were."
"I was trying to tow another truck out," said Elliott, the owner of Elliott's Performance. "I floored it up and over as it collapsed."
