"I was living and working in Tignes, France, during the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. The very first Olympic moguls competition took place on a long, steep slope on the verge of Val Claret, the highest of Tignes' villages. I was drawn to the fun, irreverent, fast and loose attitude of the bumps skiers and the amazingly acrobatic and dangerous runs they put down."
"A massive crowd braved the cold and snow to cheer on some of the world's most rad skiers. I got there early, I was right at the front of the pen with an amazing view up the slope. Music was banging, people were busting some pretty athletic moves (to keep warm) and there were drinks aplenty. When you go watch the moguls you go to party. Grospiron finished top in the qualifying round and then advanced to the final."
The 2026 Winter Olympics opened across Milan, Cortina, Livigno and Predazzo, beginning weeks of competition and anticipated iconic moments. A standout memory from past Games occurred at the 1992 Albertville Olympics in Tignes, where the inaugural Olympic moguls event ran on a long, steep slope above Val Claret. Spectators created a party-like atmosphere with loud music, cheering and cold-weather antics. Edgar Grospiron distinguished himself with rapid-fire runs, super-fast turns and enormous airs. He topped qualifying, advanced to the final, and in a 31-second last run covered nearly 250 metres while launching two massive jumps, delivering pure adrenaline.
