Arc'teryx Opens Southern Hemisphere's First Alpha Store in Famous QVB in Sydney, Australia
Arc'teryx opened the Southern Hemisphere’s first Alpha Store inside Sydney’s historic Queen Victoria Building. The three-level flagship combines technical apparel, sustainability initiatives, climbing culture, and community spaces within a 19th-century heritage landmark. The store carries the most extensive Arc'teryx product range currently available in Australia, including the largest dedicated Veilance retail space in the country. An on-site ReBIRD Service Centre provides garment care, repairs, and washing to extend product lifespan and reduce waste. A harness testing zone and a climbing-wall-inspired installation modeled after the Blue Mountains are included. A First Nations art installation was developed with Miranda Hampson, Gadigal Elder Uncle Ray Davison, and Bidjigal and Gweagal Elder Aunty Barb Simms, reflecting Gadigal knowledge, sustainability, and connection to Country.
"The QVB is a historic 19th-century shopping arcade in downtown Sydney, widely considered one of Australia's most iconic retail and architectural landmarks. Spanning three levels in the heart of Sydney's CBD, the new flagship store has been designed as more than a traditional retail outlet, combining technical apparel, sustainability initiatives, climbing culture and community spaces within one of Australia's most iconic heritage buildings."
"The new Alpha Store features the most extensive Arc'teryx product range currently available in Australia, including the country's largest dedicated Veilance retail space, the company's premium urban performance line. Among the flagship features is an on-site ReBIRD Service Centre offering garment care, repairs and washing services aimed at extending product lifespan and reducing waste."
"The store also includes a dedicated harness testing zone and a climbing-wall-inspired installation modeled after the cliffs of the Blue Mountains. Arc'teryx said the concept was designed to merge "technical performance, craftsmanship and mountain culture" within the QVB setting."
"A major feature of the new Sydney location is a First Nations art installation developed in collaboration with artist Miranda Hampson alongside Gadigal Elder Uncle Ray Davison and Bidjigal and Gweagal Elder Aunty Barb Simms. According to Arc'teryx, the installation reflects "thousands of years of Gadigal knowledge, sustainability, and connection to Country.""
