General Manager of Mt. Ashland, OR, Andrew Gast Resigns Amid Indefinite Resort Closure - SnowBrains
"You know, I think it was just an opportunity to get back to what I really have been the most passionate about, where my experience is. I've been a pass holder at Mt. Ashland as long as we've been living here, skiing almost every single day I could. It was just an opportunity I couldn't pass up."
"Mt. Ashland has a strong core of employees with decades of experience that are more than capable of running the mountain until a new general manager is hired."
"I can't speak highly enough about Andrew. Everyday opening the mountain requires overcoming several obstacles, and not only did Andrew take this in stride, but he also prioritized maintaining and improving Mt. Ashland's connection to the local community and made great progress in evolving the mountain into a year-round destination."
Mt. Ashland experienced a difficult season that led to a midseason indefinite closure. General Manager Andrew Gast resigned to pursue another job opportunity. Gast oversaw installation of the new Lithia Chairlift, expanded lighting infrastructure, and grew summer operations to develop the resort as a year-round destination. Leadership stated a strong core of long-tenured employees can run the mountain during the transition. The Mt. Ashland Association has begun a hiring process for a new general manager and does not plan to rush selecting the next leader.
