""With sustained warm temperatures reaching into the seventies and nearly two weeks without a freeze, we've run out of options. We will close the 2025-26 ski season this weekend," Todd Bennett, Deer Valley Resort President and Chief Operating Officer, said."
""We have accomplished something that's never been done before in the history of skiing," he said, referring to the resort's expansion during a challenging season with the lowest snowfall in Utah history."
Deer Valley Resort in Utah will close for the season on March 29, 2026, three weeks earlier than the original date of April 19. The decision follows record-breaking warm temperatures, with sustained highs in the 70s and nearly two weeks without nighttime freezes. The 2025-26 season faced challenges, including a delayed opening due to insufficient snowmaking. Despite these issues, the resort achieved a significant expansion, adding nearly 100 new runs and eight new lifts, marking a historic milestone in its operations.
