"The men of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard alpine program have arrived at Copper Mountain, Colorado, for an important block of spring training as preparations begin for the 2026-27 season. The on-snow camp includes athletes ranging from the men's World Cup speed and tech teams to younger Europa Cup development groups. The early offseason sessions are focused on rebuilding fundamentals, refining technique, and laying the groundwork for the long training cycle ahead."
"Spring training camps at Copper Mountain have become a key part of the American alpine development pipeline, with the resort's high-elevation snow surface and dedicated training lanes providing consistent conditions late into the season. The resort reaches elevations of 9,712 feet to 12,441 feet, providing it with cold temperatures and strong snowmaking conditions crucial for race-quality surfaces. Its dedicated "Speed Center," created in collaboration with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, is the only venue in North America consistently able to offer full-length speed training."
"While the men are back on snow in Colorado, the women's teams are currently focused on offseason conditioning and strength work in the gym ahead of their next on-snow training blocks later this year. The camp also marks the beginning of a new coaching era for the men's program. The Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team recently named Phil McNichol as men's alpine head coach, effective immediately, as the program begins building toward next winter's World Cup campaign and the 2027 World Championships cycle."
