Isak missed recent training and match action because of a dispute with Newcastle, leaving his match fitness restricted. He says he needs assessment to determine readiness but wants to play as soon as possible and is relieved the move is complete. Isak looks forward to returning to training, seeing team-mates and fans, and getting back on the pitch. Jamie Carragher characterises the transfer as a win for player power, contrasting Isak's approach with Marc Guehi's more dignified conduct. Carragher warns that similar tactics by other players could become more common and views the conduct as undesirable.
I've had a tricky summer where I haven't played any games and I've had restricted training. So I think that's one to judge and to analyse where I am at and how much I am ready to give. But I certainly want to play as soon as possible. I'm just happy it's done and that I can get back to work. I'm looking forward to seeing my team-mates and the fans, and getting back out there.
You look at Guehi, who conducted himself fantastically well and still feels a fan favourite with the Palace supporters and the manager speaking highly of him as well. He will have to wait maybe until January now or next summer to get that move. Other players in this position in a year's time will look at how Isak and Wissa have gone about it and how that gives them a greater opportunity to get out - and that would be a sad day for football. Because I don't think it's been great how both players have conducted themselves.
