Aberdeen report 2m loss for cup-winning season
"The club's wages to turnover ratio increased to 70% from 54% during the previous year as a result of a 2.4m increase in football investment and reduced income due to no European club competition participation. In June 2025, the majority shareholders in the club, including my family, Tom Crotty and Roger Lee, invested a further 8m to develop and enhance our facilities and to provide working capital."
"With the club planning to spend 12m on its academy and development players over the next five years, we need to see real tangible progress in these players progressing to the first team. Going forward, there will be a greater emphasis on our top talents being exposed to senior competitive football through our newly announced club co-operation arrangements and an extensive loan programme."
Aberdeen reported a 2m loss for the year to June following a season without European football in 2024-25. Turnover fell almost 2m to 21.7m while operating expenses rose by nearly 2.5m to 26.5m. Gains on disposal of player registrations increased to about 5.3m from 1.3m, helped by the record 6.8m sale of Bojan Miovski to Girona. The first team finished fifth in the Scottish Premiership but qualified for the Conference League after ending a 35-year wait to win the Scottish Cup. Wages-to-turnover rose to 70% from 54%. Majority shareholders invested a further 8m in June 2025, and 12m is planned for academy and development players over five years, with a renewed focus on loans and senior exposure for top talents. Aberdeen women finished eighth in the Scottish Women's Premier League.
