""We're very glad Konrad Laimer has been named Austria's Footballer of the Year", Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund began. "As his compatriot, I'm particularly happy about the award, especially as I've known and accompanied him for a long time. Both at FC Bayern and in the national team, Konny has been an absolute role model in terms of reliability, passion, commitment and a team spirit that inspires everyone.""
""He was recently given the nickname 'Zidane of the Alps' - he definitely has a turbo in his boots if you ask me", Freund continued. "FC Bayern is proud to have Austria's Footballer of the Year in its ranks. David Alaba has won the award ten times in his career - let's see if Konny can start a new streak.""
Konrad Laimer and Sarah Zadrazil were named Austria's Footballers of the Year by the Austrian Press Agency after standout seasons with Bayern Munich. Laimer contributed to Bayern's 2024/25 Bundesliga title and the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. Zadrazil led Bayern Frauen to a Frauen-Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double plus the DFB-Supercup victory over Wolfsburg. The last Bayern recipient was David Alaba in 2021. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund praised Laimer's reliability, passion, commitment and inspiring team spirit, likening him to the 'Zidane of the Alps' and expressed hope that Laimer might start a new run comparable to Alaba's ten awards.
