"We are a big club, that must be said. But Bayern are the record champions. They are by far the team with the most titles. They have really top-class, expensive players. We also have very good players. That's why I do believe we are a top team. But Bayern are on another level. The results also show that, and that must be said."
"Yes, of course. Every game has its own story, and this is a very important match. I hope that everyone on both sides is fit, so that it can truly be a top game. A lot can happen in a match, and I absolutely agree with that. But you must not overlook the fact that Bayern are there for a reason. They are first in the Champions League, they are first in the Bundesliga."
Niko Kovač, former Bayern coach and current Borussia Dortmund manager, acknowledges Bayern Munich as record champions with top-class, expensive players and superior recent results. Kovač affirms Dortmund are a good, top team but regards Bayern as being on another level and the clear favorites. Kovač disagrees with any attempt to downplay Bayern's form, noting Bayern’s leading positions in both the Champions League and the Bundesliga. Kovač hopes for a fully fit squad on both sides for Der Klassiker and expects a very important match in which many things can still happen.
