Can 'calm' and 'intelligent' O'Reilly keep England left-back spot?
"I'm over the moon. Tonight was a very special night, making my debut. Dream come true for me and my family. My mum, stepdad, sister, for them to watch me play here at Wembley is a crazy feeling."
"It is an aim for me to try to get to the World Cup. There's huge competition but I have got to just keep working hard, game by game and day by day."
Nico O'Reilly received his first senior England call-up and made his debut at Wembley as a 20-year-old left-back. He started in defence alongside Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Reece James and showed no sign of being out of place. He recently made his first Premier League start and impressed for Manchester City, notably in a strong left-sided partnership with Jeremy Doku against Liverpool. O'Reilly progressed through Manchester City's academy from age eight, captained the Under-18s to a Premier League title in 2023, and broke through to the first team after strong development squad performances. He aims to fight for a World Cup place and intends to keep working game by game.
