"I really enjoyed my time at AFC Toronto and in Toronto in general. Definitely a big year for me and the club. And I was really grateful to be part of our first season [in the Northern Super League]. I think we will never forget that as Canadian soccer players. But I'm definitely excited for the next chapter."
"It's definitely a little bit bittersweet,"
"I think it's a really good opportunity for someone like Emma,"
"The fee itself, for the women's game, is substantial,"
Emma Regan has transferred from AFC Toronto to a National Women's Soccer League club, with AFC Toronto not disclosing the fee or the NWSL destination. She is believed to be joining one of the NWSL expansion teams, either the Boston Legacy or Denver Summit, with a fee expected to be comparable to the reported $465,000 USD paid for Jessie Fleming. Regan played every minute for AFC Toronto, captained the team to first place in the regular season, appeared in 11 of Canada's 13 matches last year, has 15 senior caps, and scored her first senior international goal in June against Costa Rica.
