Joe Rankin-Costello has joined Charlton Athletic on a four-year deal from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee. Charlton Athletic have signed Joe Rankin-Costello from Blackburn Rovers on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old made 115 Championship appearances for Rovers after making his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in January 2020, netting six times.
Primarily a wide midfielder, Rankin-Costello filled in at right-back for Rovers last season in the absence of Callum Britain and made 29 league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.
The manager was really positive about the project and it made me want to come here straight away. I wanted a new challenge and I'm really excited to embrace it.
Charlton boss Nathan Jones added: "We're really delighted to get Joe on board. He's a really versatile and technically excellent midfield player, with good energy and lots of Championship experience."
