FA to ban transgender women from women's football in England
Briefly

The Football Association (FA) has decided that transgender women will no longer be allowed to compete in women's football in England starting June 1, 2025. This decision comes after a Supreme Court ruling that defined 'woman' and 'sex' in biological terms, prompting legal advice for policy changes. This marks a significant shift from a previous policy allowing participation based on testosterone levels. The ruling has faced criticism from rights groups, and plans for a potential appeal to the European Court of Human Rights are in progress, notably from a former judge.
Transgender women will no longer be able to play in women's football in England, and this policy will be implemented from 1 June 2025.
The Supreme Court's ruling on the 16 April means that we will be changing our policy. We had always been open to reviewing our position.
