FAI sees 4m drop in matchday revenues as debt cut back to 42m
"The FAI have managed to shave just over €1million from their debt but the figure still stands at an eye-watering €42m."
"And according to accounts for 2024, issued by the association today ahead of their AGM next month, there was a worrying drop in matchday-related revenue, down from €18.6m in 2023 to €14.3m last year. The drop is believed to be related to the level of games played at senior men's international level, while the 2024 accounts did not contain the financial bonus from 2023 of the women's team playing at the World Cup finals."
The FAI reduced its debt by just over €1 million, leaving an outstanding balance of €42 million. Accounts for 2024 were issued ahead of the association's AGM next month. Matchday-related revenue declined from €18.6 million in 2023 to €14.3 million in 2024. The revenue fall is attributed to the number of senior men's international matches played. The 2024 accounts did not include the financial bonus arising from the women's team participation at the 2023 World Cup finals. The combined figures indicate continued revenue pressure alongside a substantial remaining debt.
