Football can be so cruel - Luis Enrique laments PSGs unfair Coupe de France loss - Soccer News
"We played brilliantly; we did everything right. We deserved to win, for sure. But this is a sport where goals decide everything. They scored; we didn't. That's football for you."
"Nevertheless, I'm really proud of the team - both as a whole and individually. The result? It hurts. It feels unfair."
"But we have to swallow it. I wish Paris FC the best of luck in the future. To be honest, I'm happy with what I saw on the pitch."
Paris FC defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Coupe de France round of 32 at the Parc des Princes, with Jonathan Ikone scoring in the 74th minute. PSG dominated numerically, registering 25 shots, seven on target, hitting the woodwork and accumulating 1.7 expected goals, while Paris FC had four attempts, two on target, and 0.5 xG. The result marks only the second time in 20 years that PSG have failed to reach the round of 16 in the competition, after Montpellier in 2014. Team leadership praised the performance as complete and brilliant, expressed pride, and called the result unfair. PSG recently won the Trophee des Champions but will not add a 17th Coupe de France title this season.
