Ipswich plans to lodge a formal complaint against the EFL following an incident where a Birmingham City fan targeted midfielder Jack Taylor. This occurred after Ipswich drew 1-1 with Birmingham, culminating in a contentious last-minute penalty. Following the shootout celebration, emotions escalated leading to player clashes and a fan breach of security as he tried to strike Taylor. Referee, EFL, and police have been informed about the situation, which included stewards having to physically intervene to control the fan.
Referee Andrew Kitchen, the EFL and police were all aware of Taylor's claims following the incident. Tempers boiled over in stoppage time when Ipswich were awarded a contentious penalty.
Footage shows a fan hurdling a fence and running towards the scene with security and stewards having to intervene and wrestle him to the ground.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna mentioned, 'It'll be seen and reported and let's see what happens. I think there might have been an incident with the crowd and one of the players, that wasn't ideal.'
