Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence walked straight down the tunnel instead of joining a lap of appreciation after Tottenham's 1-0 loss to Chelsea, while many teammates faced boos from the crowd. Manager Thomas Frank asked players to do the customary lap and said he understood that all the players were frustrated and wanted to win and perform well. The club judged the action not to be a deliberate slight against Frank but a visible expression of mounting negativity from fans. Former players said the reaction was understandable but players should at least acknowledge the manager and the supporters.
