Alexander Isak opened the scoring for Liverpool after coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 win at Tottenham but was caught by Micky van de Ven immediately after striking the ball and suffered a broken leg. The Sweden international attempted to continue but was withdrawn and diagnosed with a fractured fibula. Surgery was completed on Monday and rehabilitation will continue at the AXA Training Centre. Liverpool have not provided a return timeframe, though the forward, signed from Newcastle for a club-record £125m, could be sidelined for several months.
