Isak trained at former club Real Sociedad and posted on social media to express his desire to leave, then went on strike at Tyneside. Newcastle signed German talent Nick Woltemade as replacement and pursued other targets including Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa but faced obstacles. Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein confirmed the deal and Isak travelled for medical tests. Transfermarkt values Isak at £120m.
