Norwich skipper McLean agrees new two-year deal
Kenny McLean has signed a new two-year contract with Norwich City. The 34-year-old Scotland midfielder has made 310 appearances for the club since joining from Aberdeen in January 2018. His previous deal, signed in September 2023, was set to expire in summer, but an option to extend it into next season had already been taken up during the 2024-25 campaign. Norwich’s player of the season has accepted fresh terms ahead of the World Cup. McLean said the club’s trust and the manager’s confidence motivated him, and he wants to repay that trust through performances and helping the team. Norwich finished ninth in the Championship, with McLean scoring in the final-day 1-1 draw with Swansea.
"The decision was pretty easy, the conversations were pretty short. This club's now part of my life. I've been here eight years and I would love to finish my career here."
"I've got a year left; the club didn't have to do what they're doing but the manager puts a lot of trust in me and I want to repay him with performances and helping the team. Every single day, I try and do as much as I can to improve people round about me [and] improve myself, which I'm still doing at 34."
"I see success at this football club, with the manager in charge and the foundations that we're laying now, and I want to be part of it."
"McLean's last contract was signed in September 2023 and was due to expire this summer. However, in March, McLean revealed to BBC Radio Norfolk's The Scrimmage podcast that the one-year option to extend it into next season had already been taken up by the club during the 2024-25 campaign."
