Lucas Paqueta will start the Premier League match at Brighton after serving a one-match suspension. Paqueta was suspended for the 1-1 draw with Manchester United after receiving two yellow cards following a rant at referee Darren England in the home loss to Liverpool, then sarcastically applauding the referee as he left the field. Paqueta posted that his actions were influenced by a long-running FA spot-fixing investigation in 2024, from which he was cleared this summer. The FA declined further punishment for the Liverpool incident, allowing an immediate recall. West Ham have one defeat in five matches but have dropped into the relegation zone and are fighting to preserve top-flight status since 2012.
