"Yes I did have a penguin in my bathtub once. I didn't steal him, I just borrowed him for a night."
"I want to focus on Aberdeen."
"For Aberdeen the most important thing is to find a strategy, a philosophy, a clear playing style,"
"Sometimes recruiting the best player on the market doesn't always work out. You need to have the best fitting player to your system and style."
Lutz Pfannenstiel, 52-year-old German, is Aberdeen's new sporting director and intends to focus on the club. He acknowledged a colourful past but emphasised concentrating on Aberdeen and its future. He plans to prioritise youth development, establish a clear club DNA, and implement a coherent playing philosophy. He stresses recruiting players who fit the system rather than simply the market’s top names. He brings experience from 25 clubs in 13 countries and assistant roles with Cuba and Namibia, offering broad recruitment connections. He aims to relieve pressure on manager Jimmy Thelin while Aberdeen sit eighth in the Scottish Premiership.
