Report: Bayern Munich concerned Max Eberl could resign, leave executive board in disarray

At Bayern Munich, there are always a lot of voices adding their input into every decision. That has always been the case and it does not seem as if it will change any time soon. But as the saying goes: Too many cooks spoil the broth. Board member for sport Max Eberl was brought in around March 2024 to be the decision maker in sporting affairs and was immediately boosted into a position on the executive board as a result.

There's growing concern within the supervisory board that Max Eberl could resign by himself after the chaotic summer transfer window. This was the impression after his appearance last week at the board meeting. The general consensus is that Eberl is prepared for a departure. If that happens, the executive board would be left with only one member (Jan-Christian Dreesen), as CFO Michael Diederich is leaving the club, and no successor has yet been found.

There are already rumors about Diederich's potential replacement and there were already rumors that Bayern were looking to replace Eberl with the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt's Markus Krösche. Still, sporting directors may start to weigh the prestige of working at Bayern with the difficulty of being just a voice among many rather than clearly being in charge.
